Effects of HCl Hydrolyzed Cellulose Nanocrystals From Waste Papers on the Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose/Cationic Starch Biofilms

The study reports on the preparation of nanocrystalline cellulose from waste papers (WPNCC), as an environmental friendly approach source material and investigation their effects morphological, mechanical barrier properties Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose/Cationic starch (HPMC/CS) nanocomposites. HCl hydrolysis followed by alkali treatment deinking fibers resulted in production WPNCC. Also, HPMC/CS nanocomposites were produced solvent casting method. TEM results confirmed rod like shape WPNCC; average diameter was 22 ± 7 nm length 125 25 nm. yield 65% with high crystallinity index 79.6%. X-ray diffraction successfully WPNCC effective presence matrix. homogeneity dispersion polymer matrix approved FESEM analysis. also did not affect optical clarity. optimum amount 9 wt% WPNCC, showed highest barrier, biodegradablility properties. It can prove that these be considered a new biomaterial for application food packaging conservation.
